Back!

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Back for some mid-summer fun after a wonderful trip to London and the Greek Islands (will post pictures soon). Just a quick note to say I’ll be signing books at the literacy signing in Atlanta on July 26th from 5:30-8:30pm in the Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel, along with hundreds of other romance authors. So if you are in the area, please stop by! All proceeds go to literacy!

If you want to check out the authors who will be signing, take a look here. :D

Summer Fun

Monday, June 19th, 2006

This site is on travel hiatus for the next three weeks, but I promise lots of goodies and pictures when I return. :D

That means Regency Word of the Day is on vacation for three weeks too. However, if you would like to suggest Regency words of the day under this post’s comments, they will be the first word of the day posts when I return!

Also, feel free to contact me on the contact page. I put in this caveat on the page though — “Please note however that I will be unavailable to respond until the middle of July due to traveling without an Internet connection. The good news is that someone is staying at my place with my cats during that time, or else they would eat me upon my return and I’d never be able to respond…”

So I thought maybe you’d like to see hungry, evil cats at work…

Hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial day. :)

Paw Sense

Wednesday, May 10th, 2006

This link was just sent to me:
http://www.bitboost.com/pawsense/index.html

I nearly spit out my water when I saw the grey screen with the “Cat-like Typing Detected.”

Some of the Frequently Asked Questions are a hoot too, so if you have a cat and he/she likes to perch on your keyboard, this may be just the product for you. ;)

Stuff on my cats

Saturday, April 15th, 2006

Jenna Petersen sent me a link to the Stuff On My Cat website a couple weeks ago, and it’s absolutely hilarious if you are a cat owner or lover. I decided to have a bit of fun with the concept and with Jenna, so I posed my boys with Jenna’s “stuff.” ;)

Couldn’t resist throwing mine on there too. Heh. Bob looks pleased, doesn’t he? ;)

Patience in a Punt

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

While visiting Hampton Court, my intrepid mother took two great pictures of fly fishing caricatures in a pub next door. The Viscount’s Wicked Ways has a fly fishing scene in which the heroine, Patience, fishes. The book was already written and in production when these drawings were found. Strangely enough, the caricature below is titled, “Patience in a Punt.” :D

Read a bit more about this picture, see a bigger version or check out the other fly fishing shot in the “Inside the book” section under The Viscount’s Wicked Ways.

Bob in bag

*cross-posted at www.jauntyquills.com*

My cat Bob is a smart cat. He chirps back when I talk to him, herds me where he wants me to go and generally seems to know what is going on around him. So what, I ask, is his fascination with eating things that are not food?

“Ooh, ooh, a rubber band! Nice and squishy. Wow, an eraser! Rubbery in my tummery. Crunch, crunch - just two hundred more chews, and this pen is mine! Then I’ll finish it off with a drink from that nice big white porcelain contraption.”

Sure, he herds me to their food bowls every morning, chattering all the way, intent on getting a daily dollop of wet catfood. But that doesn’t seem to stop non-catfood consumption, much to my eternal dismay and overzealous need to keep all cat-swallowable objects off the tables and floors. I keep waiting for him to realize a dust bunny appetite. That would be quite useful.

Pounce and Bob - undercover cat

For odd sleeping habits, please see feet above.

Pounce’s thoughts on the other hand (at left), seem to consist of, “leaf! plant! flower! clump of tasty fur!” Or, “warm lap! sunny spot!” A bit more catlike, but he has been known to lick an emery board clean and polish the back of a phone handle. No, I don’t know why either.

What are some of the more curious traits that your cat, dog, ferret, fish, *insert animal here*, possesses?

Newsletter sent!

Friday, March 31st, 2006

The newsletter just went out! I sent it manually (read: painfully) and one batch went out without a subject (*hits head on table repeatedly*) - so if you received one of those, my abject apologies. I thought it was better to just apologize here then to resend it with the subject in place.

If you didn’t receive the newsletter, I have an htm version up at: http://www.annemallory.com/AprilNewsletter.htm

I’m going to be looking at better sending methods, or perhaps moving to a Yahoo Group. The next newsletter won’t go out until late October, so there’s some time to decide. :D
