The carp that was a cat

*cross-posted at www.jauntyquills.com*
My cat Bob is a smart cat. He chirps back when I talk to him, herds me where he wants me to go and generally seems to know what is going on around him. So what, I ask, is his fascination with eating things that are not food?
“Ooh, ooh, a rubber band! Nice and squishy. Wow, an eraser! Rubbery in my tummery. Crunch, crunch - just two hundred more chews, and this pen is mine! Then I’ll finish it off with a drink from that nice big white porcelain contraption.”
Sure, he herds me to their food bowls every morning, chattering all the way, intent on getting a daily dollop of wet catfood. But that doesn’t seem to stop non-catfood consumption, much to my eternal dismay and overzealous need to keep all cat-swallowable objects off the tables and floors. I keep waiting for him to realize a dust bunny appetite. That would be quite useful.

For odd sleeping habits, please see feet above.
Pounce’s thoughts on the other hand (at left), seem to consist of, “leaf! plant! flower! clump of tasty fur!” Or, “warm lap! sunny spot!” A bit more catlike, but he has been known to lick an emery board clean and polish the back of a phone handle. No, I don’t know why either.
What are some of the more curious traits that your cat, dog, ferret, fish, *insert animal here*, possesses?

I don’t have any pets (quirky or otherwise) but I feel that I’ve come to know Bob and Pounce and felt compelled to write in their favor. I’ve seen how a certain person-who-shall-remain-nameless-but-who’s-name-rhymes-with-hat er, “interacts” with those poor cats. Its no wonder they develop strange habits. I wouldn’t be so worried about Pounce (Sorry P-Man) but Bob will have his revenge someday.

Vengeance will be his. I just hope I’m there with a camera to see it. Muahahahaha.

I have a cat, Whizard Jackit, that has a foot fetish. If you pet him or scratch him, it has to be with your feet or your toes. My cat, Gryffyndor, comes running and chirping when I go into the computer room, and as soon as I get home for work I have to lie down for 15 minutes so that she can lay on me and purr. My cat, Mooboo the Molesucker, likes to chase strings, plastic wires, toy mice, and rubber bands. When he is especially playful he will fetch them and claw my leg and meow and tell me to throw them again.

Beckey, you have the cutest names for your cats!

Thanks, most of them come from books or famous horses. I have 20 cats that think my yard is their home, but I won’t bore you with their names. I do have an Azkaban that goes with Gryffyndor, and I have a Majykyl that goes with Whizard. Most people think I’m nuts when I mention one of my cats. Just finished reading a couple of your books. They’re great!

Thanks, Beckey!! And those names are clever, not nuts!
